My guy.  It has not been a year since you've been gone, but I miss you.  I know your birthday was on May 26 and your going-home day is September 6, but I miss you.  I didn't realize all the lessons I learned from your quiet demeanor, your patient smile, and your quick wit, but I miss you.  Your slow-to-judge and quick-to-forgive method has been something I've been working on, but I miss you.  Your fatherly love for your biological children and your professional children was an example to all who interacted with you, but I miss you.  I did not realize how much of a mentor you were to me until you were not around anymore, damn I miss you.  I am honored and proud to have known,  worked, and have called you a friend.  I miss you.   Sleep easy, my friend.  Sleep easy.
