I enjoy being in the customer service business. I think it is the ultimate leadership training ground.
You learn how to take care of strangers who have varying levels of standards, patience, and expectations. You will be tested by circumstances and situations that change each day and sometimes changes every hour.
I'm equally amazed when people choose to serve the public and then have an attitude toward the public. Why choose something you don't enjoy or don't want to do? I've heard the counterargument and I understand sometimes people have to do things they don't want to do. I agree, we've all been there and done that. But working somewhere you don't want to work does not mean you have to have a bad attitude, it just means you are working where you NEED to be and you have to figure out a way to get to the place you WANT to be.
You never knows who you are providing a service for and how providing great service to someone might provide a way to get to where you WANT to be. Sometimes you have to “Fake it till you make it”
My morning reflection after receiving less than good service at a business.
