I’ve been asked why I wake up so early to go to the gym to work out.

Follow me on this...

In architecture, the phrase “form follows function”  means the external form is shaped by the internal function.  That principle is predicated on nature.  External features are based on internal processes.

The getting up early part...

We purchased our 2nd home in 2002.  The kids were young so we decided to drive them to school when possible.  As they grew, the decision turned into a routine for my wife and me.  As our schedules changed and our career responsibilities grew,  It became necessary for me to get up earlier to get my workout in and continue to help with the decision we made to take them to school.  Before I realized it,  I was getting up every day between 3:00 am and 3:30 am.

The fitness part...

Real Talk...  I've been doing some form of athletics since I was 8 years old.  Baseball, tennis, boxing, swimming, track and field, bodybuilding, and fitness training.  I was always in really good shape.  Then,  family, ambition, and life happened.  I made certain choices that seems right for me at the time. Those choices played a role in my getting off track from a fitness standpoint.  There are very few major events in life that happen suddenly.   In most cases, major events are preceded by many smaller seemingly insignificant events.  My journey was similar in that many smaller events moved me away from my younger athletic self.  Things culminated for me in 2011 when my mother journeyed home at the young age of 61 years and 8 months.  That life-changing event broke me in ways I could not have ever imagined.  It also opened my eyes to my path.  God’s plan is God’s plan, but I needed to demonstrate externally and internally that I was thankful for being here.  I now understand that once I decided to demonstrate my appreciation, the concept of Vee’s Fitness was created internally.

The lifestyle part...

“Form follows function”...  My career is composed of at times, a lot of travel, varying schedules,  long days,  physical exertion, mental flexibility, and an above-average amount of stress.  I firmly believe the level of success I've achieved is the external manifestation of my internal processes.

I have not been perfect on my journey,  but fitness for me is not an addition to who I am,  it's a part of who I am.  And it’s not just a physical journey it's also a mental, emotional, and spiritual journey.
