Vee’s Inspiration October 30, 2024

To the person who saved my Dad after my Mom passed, Barbara, Thank you.  To Calvin and Curlissa my lil brother and lil sister for Sunday Dinner, Thank you.

This has been an interesting 2 months.  I have so many mixed emotions.  In addition to my hectic travel schedule, add me being on two Hurricane jump teams to my wife losing her cousin who was 50 and like a little brother to her, to us losing a professional mentor and friend at 58, to me losing a cousin who was 50, to my wife having Rotator cuff surgery and though I have a bunch of help from my neighbors, my cousin and my 4th child,  I have tried to be Anissia thoughts before she thinks them as to what she needs.  I say, “Life prepares you for the unexpected” I'm thankful that I normally function well on 4-5 hours of sleep.  Nighttime is normally the time she has the most pain,  so I don't sleep well because I want to make sure she is ok.  I say all this because my experiences over the past 2 months have given me an increased appreciation for single parents with no help, for parents who care for a family member indefinitely, and for people who have chronic pain with no foreseeable relief.  I see how life's light might dim for them.  But I also understand the joy they must feel when someone they are caring for looks at them with the look of love and appreciation.  The look of comfort from those who always experience pain when they find a few moments of respite and smiles.  By no means am I comparing my 2-month sample of real hard-life situations with others who have been dealing with worse situations for a longer period, but this has increased my empathy and understanding.  It has also increased my appreciation for the people who kept showing up and supporting us.  Tammi, Kaye for the daily calls to keep her spirits up, Wayne, Karen for doing what y'all always do, Kim for the daily text check-ins and meals,  Melissa and Yodi who have been here at the house every day I work to look after Anissia.  Thank you.  My silver lining from this experience is to work harder to be better.
