Vee’s Inspiration June 8, 2023

They say 50 is the new 30.  So I guess that means my soon-to-be 52 means, I'm soon to be 32🤔.  By that logic,  I'm just 1 year into my current career.

Wait, does that mean I have 30 more years before I retire and do Vee’s Fitness as my retirement activity?👀🤦🏽‍♂️

My cousins, my neighbor, my wife, and I just had the” any regrets, what would you change/ what-if” conversation a couple of weeks ago.  That's always the million-dollar conversation.  What would you do differently or what would you change if you could go back and change something?   I've thought about that question a lot since we had that conversation.

So I'm going off on one of my side stories.  I often go back and then go forward.  Let's go back...

My wife, one of my friends, who I call one of my lil brothers, and I go to Vegas.  My wife loves the slots.  She was playing the progressive slot machines and I explained that you always play the max because the progressive does not pay if you don't.  Long story short, later that evening,  she hit the progressive jackpot.  I believe the jackpot was 3.7 million.  We were all jumping around excited.  Well,  some of y'all already know the story.  My wife, in her infinite wisdom, only played 50-cent instead of the .75-cent max.  She was trying to “make her money last”🤣😂🤔😤🤣.  We did not win the 3.7 million.  We won nothing.

(She says I share too much, she’s gonna get me😂🤣)

Let's go forward.  I often think about that story when I go down the “what-if” conversation path.

What if my parents had not moved us from River Park Towers in the Bronx?

What if I had continued to play tennis instead of baseball?

What if I had continued playing baseball instead of swimming?

What if I had continued swimming instead of track & field

What if I had played football like my cousin Artie?

What if I never met Coach Lenny Maleck?

What if I had applied to more than 1 college, “Dear old Morehouse”

What if I had made my 1st million with “Vecus’ Laundry and Dry Cleaning” - pick-up and delivery

What if, what if, what if...

I always come back to; my life would not be what it is today.  Sure I have problems.  Sure I've made decisions that have had consequences, but my life probably would be completely different today if I went and changed something yesterday.  My life is not perfect, (and let's be real, perfect can get boring), but it's been satisfying and fulfilling.

So the soon-to-be 52-year-old guy is happy to have the what-ifs conversation because they're fun and they are thought-provoking, but in reality, I love the good, bad, painful journey I've been on.  I'm thankful.

Real Talk,  at the time I was irritated with my wife when she did not put that extra .25 cents in, but now I'm glad and thankful things happened the way they did.  We probably would have made some different decisions which might have prevented us from making and building the wonderful relationship we have with people we've met since then.  And we might not have had all the personal and professional opportunities.

Most times the journey is the blessing.
