My wife says I share too much…

Sometimes she is correct.

Last night my son called me.  I was dead tired, but wanted to make sure he was good.  He was checking in on me and telling me about his day.  He told me two things that make the hard days worth it.

  1. He said he was speaking to one of his peers and they said they missed me and I was their hero. This was a manager I worked with for 15 years.  She has twice as much tenure at our company as I have and does a fantastic job.  Our ethnic backgrounds are as different as one can imagine.

  2. He told me the story of one of his grill operators that did not have a father figure in his life.  I worked with this grill operator several times. The grill operator told my son that he considered me a father figure based on how I worked and how I treated the people I worked with.

My son said, “Those comments did something to him.”

REAL TALK, my son’s call and recap of those words did something to me.  When we are empty we don't always know where the fuel will come from to refuel us.

I was empty yesterday,  thank you, son, your words were my fuel.

I remain thankful for the blessing of family and friends.  I remain humbled by the responsibilities that have been entrusted to me.  I remain inspired by the possibilities that have been placed on my path.  I remain steadfast in my beliefs and convictions.  I remain confident in my duties as a father, husband, friend, confidant, advisor, protector, and student.

Lord,  I remain thankful and appreciative for your protection, thankful for the bounty you’ve blessed me with,  thankful for my physical health, and thankful for the peace of mind that I have despite the constant challenges of life.

Have a great Friday!

Stay safe!
