I’m looking forward to traveling back home today. Of the 200 days in 2024, I've been on the road traveling for work 144 of them. Initially, as I thought about traveling for work 72% of the time, I felt some frustration and annoyance.
But perspective is powerful. As I took a mental step back and considered that the first 11 years of my career, I did not have to travel for work. Roughly 4015 days. For the past 11 years, I’ve been at my company for a little over 22 years, I’ve traveled roughly 60% or 2409 days. This means that in the past 22 years or 8030 days, I've traveled for work 6.6 years, or 2409 days and I have not had to travel for 15.4 years, or 5621 days. This means that over my 22-year career, I've been home 70% of the time.
When you get tired, frustrated, or annoyed, take a moment to take a step back to gain some perspective.
I've been blessed to work for a company that has allowed me to see and experience so many different things, and to be able to be present, and provide for my family.
Lord, Thank you for the clarity that comes from patience and perspective. I’m so thankful for your whisper of encouragement during the difficult times. Someone texted me yesterday, “The good Lord heard your cries…”. Lord, you have always heard and responded to my “cries” and I am humbled and thankful. Amen
