Vee’s Inspiration January, 20, 2024

Yesterday was a long, but good day. The speech at the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce was a success. I received a standing ovation so that was pretty cool. Thank you Pam, Gini, Trey, Eric, members and guests of the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce for having me.
Where I thought I’d be, compared to where I am supposed to be… I've asked myself this question so many times throughout my life.
When I was very young I thought I'd be a boxer because of all the fights I had gotten into where I grew up.
Then my perspective was changed and I went to a specialized school, Brooklyn Technical High School, where I thought I'd follow my father's footsteps into the Air Force and become an aeronautical engineer. Then reality hit me, that's not what I wanted to do. I thought I wanted to be that cool lawyer that you see on TV, so I majored in English at Morehouse College and with an eye on going to law school, I worked at a law firm, Aikens and Ward. While there I realized that law was not my passion.
I'd thought I'd be a business owner and become a millionaire by 30, so I opened Vecus’ Laundry and Dry Cleaning and tried that for 7 years. I thought I was going somewhere, but my wife reminded me we had kids and dogs to support, and where I thought we were going, we were no where near. So she put my resume out and Waffle House picked it up and I've been where I'm supposed to be for the last 22 years. Good Morning, My name is Vecus Miller and I’m exactly where II’m supposed to be.

It's amazing how things are connected. A couple of years ago I spoke at The University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. We discussed leadership in a culturally diverse country. We discussed leadership across different generations. We discussed leadership in different industries. When you take a step back, you realize that things and people are connected. Once you understand that, and believe that, you can start making an impact in whatever field, industry, or geography you choose. I am so happy and excited to be here to answer some questions and hopefully, we can learn from one another. That concluded my introduction portion, we had a 20-minute fireside question and answer session after my intro… some of which you can view at vecus.net. I’m pleased to have had my 1st speaking engagement of 2024 officially in the books. I plan on having manay more this year. You can check the Speaking Engagements Tab @ vecus.net for future events.
