“Being a part of a team means doing things you sometimes don't want to do.” - Vecus
I encourage you to use this filter as you navigate life. Think about all the teams you are a part of. As you think about the teams you are a part of, don't limit your thoughts to the way society traditionally defines a Team. Team - can be loosely defined as- Two or more individuals that are working together towards a common objective. Based on the definition, we can call those individuals, teammates.
That means you and your spouse, partner, or significant other can be defined as a team. Your children, your parents, your friends, your neighbors, your church members, your Frat or Soror, your associates at work, etc. all can be defined as a team when you are working together towards a common objective.
Sometimes we lose sight of this with our spouse or significant other. We allow “stuff” to change the definition of “Team” and we forget we have a “Teammate”. We start acting and thinking from the perspective of what's best for “me” as opposed to what's best for “us”. This mindset is so easy to fall into, I must confess, I have fallen into it. Part of my daily prayer is that I recognize when I'm acting as a solo player and correct my actions, (Sometimes being transparent is embarrassing. SMH, My wife says I share too much. I'm sure she's right, but it’s ok, a little “Tea” every
now and then is good for the soul, 😃) Days like today are a good reminder for everyone that our spouses or significant other are our teammates, and we need to work with them towards the same objective. Remember the filter, “being a part of a team means doing things you sometimes don't want to do.”
Happy Valentine's Day to those that celebrate it, and to those that don't, Happy Tuesday.
Have a great Tuesday!
Stay safe
