Sometimes being the last of something can be an honor or can be a sad reflective moment,  I'll let you decide.  Today is the last day 23 in the year 2023.  Which is also known as the year of Michael Jordan.  As I think about what Michael Jordan has meant to me during my formative years, and now in my more reflective years,  I feel honored and blessed to have been able to witness his greatness first-hand.  A person might not often have the opportunity to witness the subtle shift of something from infancy to full maturity and then witness the continued shift into a cultural transformation.  I give credit to all the great players that played basketball before Michael Jordan.  They are part of the reason the sport is so successful today.   Michael Jordan was the pivotal spark that, by some people's accounts, revitalized the NBA, but by all accounts, brought a different energy into the league.  He pioneered the now more common sponsorship to contract ratio.  His rookie-year sponsorship-to-contract ratio was 5:1.  That was unheard of at that time.  Now it is more the norm.  There will always be the discussion of who’s the greatest basketball player of all time.

Michael Jordan has been the first Gold standard I've personally witnessed, but that does not mean he is the only one.  I think using the greatest of all time “Goat” diminishes the great ones before and after an individual.

Michael Jordan showed me, a new way to work, think, and execute, and for that,  I will always be grateful.

Michael Jordan provided me with how to be successful by working hard, perseverance, and tenacity.

Michael Jordan showed me that even winning has casualties.

Michael Jordan showed me that success is in the eyes of the beholder, not the viewer.

Michael Jordan showed me that despite his clean cool public image, he was viewed less than that by his teammates, family, and friends.

Michael Jordan showed that my true heroes and role models are the men and women who raised and developed me.

Thank you Michael for all the lessons and all the excitement over the years.  I appreciate all the great things you have done for basketball and for so many youths that “Wanted to be like Mike”.  You are truly one of the greatest that ever graced the court.

To all my Vee’s Fitness Members Thank you for Rockin' with Me.  I appreciate each of you.
