I could not miss putting something on paper today.  As most of you know today is the day that has been labeled Michael Jordan Day.  Day 23 of every month in the year 2023.  

Basketball, some say “it's just a silly game.” Others say “Just shut up and dribble.”  

I say it has become a cross-section of economics, culture, language, gender, race relations, politics, creativity, art, music,  personal expression, and community.”  I accept the fact that these important topics and their relationship with basketball did not start with Michael Jordan,  but he was the galvanizing element.  He was the magnet that made people want to be involved with basketball.  

I know there is and will always be a debate about who is the greatest basketball player.  But, I don't think there is much debate about which player ignited the world's passion for basketball.  

His name is Michael Jordan.  

Today is a double special day for me.  It's my big sister's birthday.  She was the person that taught me so much early on in my life.  I appreciate her patience when it came to me, her unyielding loyalty, and her kind soul.  I pray she has a wonderful birthday!  It was great spending time with you this past week.  Enjoy your special day.
