Medicine…

This is no shade… we all have our medicine.  Some use pharmaceuticals, some use alcohol, some use food, mine is the gym. She has been with me for 30+ years.  Even though there have been times when I left her and have taken her for granted, she has always been there, patiently, silently keeping my secrets.  She has been my companion when I had none.  She has been my respite when there was none.  She has been my confidant when there were no allies.  My pain to help fight the pain.  When I’ve been down she was down with me.  When I fly too high she holds me down.  I’ve tried to walk away but she just walks with me.  I owe her more than I can ever repay.  So you ask me why when I’m sick and I'm tired when I’m frustrated and feeling alone, why do I still find her,  I find her because she’s the medicine for my soul.
