“If you don't stop to learn, not learning will stop you.”-Vecus2024
I learned something about myself yesterday. It was not the most pleasant experience because it forced me to look at myself critically. When I unpacked the image I recognized that my ego and pride had found another way to infiltrate my thinking and thus my behavior. Initially, I was embarrassed, I have worked hard over the years to minimize and had hoped I had removed those behaviors. After some deep internal reflection caused by some tough external questions, I realized Mr. Ego and Mrs. Pride had changed their outfits, but were still with me. I thought that by correcting the stupid things I did because of my ego and pride I had beaten them. Foolish me, they just looked and acted differently. After my initial embarrassment, I took some advice I’d given to others and forgave myself.
I realized now that Mr. Ego and Mrs. Pride had manifested in an undetectable manner that stopped me from doing some things I should have done. Smile, I tip my metaphoric hat to them, touché. This is me stopping now to learn, so that not learning, won't stop me in the future.
Trust me, It does not feel good, but I'm thankful for the tough lessons.
Have a Great Day and Stay Safe!
