Vee’s Inspiration November 5, 2023
We started our journey at 1:45 p.m. and made the 1-hour and 30-minute drive to Family’s House in Senora, GA. We enjoyed good food, good music, great company, fun games, and yes, even axe throwing. I also got to see one of my Morehouse Brothers whom I have not seen in 30 years. That was a great surprise. Then at 5:45 pm, We made the 1-hour and 45-minute drive to Auburn, GA. We made it just in time to see the kick-off for RollTideRoll. We had a wonderful evening with more Family. We ate more good food, laughed at each other, played some card games, and watched my Alabama Team win against a tough LSU team. Then at 11:15 pm, We made the 45-minute drive to our other Family’s House in Snellville Ga., our next-door neighborhood house! We were all just together in Auburn, but I thought it would be fun to harass them for 10 more minutes. Then we made the 30-second drive to our house. All said, it was about 1:15 am when we fell asleep and here I am at 3:00 am writing Vee’s inspiration. Smh. “Find something you love, and Chase it”
If I had to recap yesterday in one word, that word would be “Needed”. This week was filled with “stuff” that kept me awake at night. From a dear friend of mine's ongoing battle with the most formable form of cancer to the loss of my cousin's cousin 30-year-old daughter to another form of cancer to a dear friend at work losing her son at the tender age of 33, to me having a minor, but still concerning, reaction to something I ate at work, to all the devastation and senseless hurt that people inflict on each other… I needed to see my FAMILY, my people, my tethers, to hold me back from feeling angry and afraid. Angry at the idiots who hurt others just for the selfish sake of hurting others and being afraid that at any point I can lose the people I care about, the people I call Family.
Family, seeing you, speaking to you, laughing with you, and just being around you helped me reset after a tough week. It all helped me more than you know. Thank you.
My wife says I share too much, but that's who I am.
Have a great Sunday!
Stay safe!
