Sometimes the mind works in echoes...

I was asked an interesting question yesterday that forced me to reflect on one of the most challenging times of my life. The question, “what was the biggest growth period personally for you during your career, and what did you have to adjust to and develop yourself in?”

My answer was broken down into three parts, the first two dealt with subduing my ego and pride while becoming more coachable. The third and probably the most challenging period of growth was the time of complete sensory shutdown after the passing of my mother. That life-changing event “broke me”! Thanks to God, family, and my Waffle House family, I was put back together with more empathy, sympathy, patience, and understanding. That tragic event changed my life forever, the unfortunate but fortunate laws of fate made me a more complete and better man. I'm thankful despite the pain.
