I celebrate…
A man who has been in my life from day 1. He has always been the coolest of them all. He was and is a living example of the reserved, mysterious superhero. He is quiet and intelligent but always pays attention to every detail. His superpower is his perfect recall. He can tell you the intricacies of a receipt from 1975. I kid you not, it's amazing to be able to visualize things as he talks about the past with perfect detail. On this day, a day of duality, I celebrate my Uncle Jake. Uncle Jake, I love you, and Happy Birthday 🎉!
I mourn…
Do you remember where you were? I do. I was walking down Lee Street in the West End. I still had my own business on Lee Street and walked next door into Cortez’s Barbershop. I will never forget. I pray you never forget. I pray, we never forget.
