Vee’s Inspiration October 1, 2023
I decided to stop drinking alcohol for a moment, that was three months ago. Life is fluid, and things can change, but for now, this is the path I'm on. There are a few significant events in which I have always drunk alcohol:
Any fight party I have
Hanging out at the pool during the summertime
Our annual end-of-summer birthday / Labor Day pool party
Toasting it up to my mom on her birthday
Our anniversary week celebration
During these past three months, there were two times I was tempted to drink. The first was on Mom's birthday, which each year for the last 12 years I have drank and cried myself to sleep, and the second was at our wedding anniversary dinner with FAM. Everyone at the dinner was drinking and I thought I needed to drink. I actually ordered a drink called an “Old Fashion”, for the nondrinkers, that's a delicious whiskey drink. Thankfully, my wife put her hand on mine and said, “You don't have to drink anything. You didn't drink on Mom’s Day, please don't do it today” so I didn't. Even while continuing to celebrate our anniversary with Family in Savannah, I still haven't drunk any alcohol.
Will I drink alcohol in the future? I don't know the answer. Never is a long time, but for now, this is the road I'm traveling. My wife says, “ I share too much” and she might be right, but that's just who I am. Perhaps at a later date, I’ll share what prompted me to make this decision.
A final thought…
We've had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary this week. Life and love should be celebrated as often as possible, we are blessed to have been able to do it with Family.
Have a great Sunday!
Stay safe!
