They call 2023 the year of Michael Jordan.  For those that are not aware, Michael Jordan is one of the most talented basketball players to play the sport.  Some argue he is the G.O.A.T of basketball.  I've never played professional basketball so I'm not qualified to argue that point one way or another.  In my opinion,  he is one of the greatest to play the game and has changed the way fans view excellence in basketball.  

Michael Jordan wore the number 23 on his basketball jersey.  That is why each month on the 23rd day in the year 2023 is said to be Jordan day.  You may or may not be a Jordan fan.  I get it,  he's just a person who puts on his pants and shoes just like any other person.  I get it,  he has made mistakes just as any other human has.  I can understand, but don't necessarily agree with, why some people think that someone who has so much “fame and fortune” should have to give others their “time and money”

To me,  the whole Michael Jordan year/day is not really about Michael Jordan, It's about a mentality

I think it's ok that a person pursues the thing or things they love.  I think it's ok that they are obsessed with the pursuit of achieving their dreams. I think it's ok for them to make mistakes.  I think it's ok that they choose to live their life the way they want to live it.  (As long as they don't hurt others) 

The collective “we” might have put them on a pedestal, but that’s not their fault and It's not their responsibility to do the things we expect them to do.  

It has never fully registered to me that a person pursuing their dreams, making all the sacrifices, and doing all the hard work is somehow responsible for living up to the expectations of people that do not have the same dreams, made the same sacrifices, or put in the same hard work.  When you say that out loud, it sounds funny and slightly ridiculous.

I look at the titans of industries, be it business, education, science, sports, or arts as examples of the possible results when a person is dedicated to their passion.  I look at them more as proof of concept.

4. You remain tenacious

Today is the 23rd day in the year 2023, but don't make it about Michael Jordan make it about you and how you can follow your dreams and get the results you desire.
