Vee’s Inspiration June 18, 2023
To my Granddads…
Thank you for being the resilient, confident, intelligent, and the hard men each of you had to be. Those traits were necessary to continue to build the bridge from the past to the future. I appreciate your sacrifices, and I appreciate the lessons I did not understand as a child, but I understand them as a man. Thank you.
To my Dads…
Thank you to all the men that are fathers to me. Being a father is one of the most sacred honors that can be bestowed on a man. Any man can make a baby, but every man isn’t a father. I take pride in being a son to a great father, and a nephew to uncles who were just like fathers to me. I always have to say thank you to my 2nd dad. He was the guidance I needed when I was away from my dad. Thank each of you for being the role model of how a man should be and how a father should act. Thank you.
To my Son…
You have seen me work hard to provide a safe environment for your mom and your sisters. Now that you are a father, I pray you understand the assignment. Being a Father is not about being a friend, or a buddy. It’s about being the example, the standard, the one that stands in the breach to protect from external and internal threats. It’s not always fun and at times it’s lonely, but it is necessary. I’ve tried to give you all the tools to be greater than me. I pray I have set a good example.
To my Grandsons…
You are legacy. That is a burden you will realize in the coming years. When of age, I pray you will continue to honor and protect the sacred oath of fatherhood. Protect our family and continue to set the standard for future generations.
To All Fathers…
Our task is not and has never been the primary task. That blessing has been bestowed upon Mothers. But we are the complement. As in any partnership, there are times when we must take the first position. Our roles as Fathers also mean covering the family’s “six” which can include, Taking care of, Leading by example, Teaching the difference between right and wrong, Explaining the scale of reason and judgment, Spending time, Helping out as much as possible, Saying “No” at times, Being available, Doing the necessary things.
For all these things Thank you! Happy Father's Day!
Have a great Sunday!
Stay safe!
