Vee’s Inspiration August 5, 2023
This hits differently…
I read an article about the tragic death of Adrienne Vaughan, the 45-year-old president of Bloomsbury US, while she was on vacation in Italy with her husband and her two children. A freak boating accident that forever changed the lives of a husband, two children, a family, friends, a community of people, and potentially the future of a business.
While reading this article, I was transported to that magical mental and emotional place we all have when we are on vacation. A place where all the hard work and sacrifices are worth it. A place where childhood dreams become adult reality. Vacations are meant to recharge, re-invigorate, and re-inspire us to chase those innocent dreams of greatness. Vacations are meant to reconnect with friends and family. Vacations are meant to heat the passion that might have cooled with our spouses or significant others. Vacations are meant to Recharge from all the hard work you’ve done, Reflect on all the progress and sacrifices you’ve made, and Reward those who have sacrificed with you.
Those who know me well know I love airplanes and airports. I explored the reasons why I have such love for planes and ports and I came up with a two-stage answer.
Stage 1- My dad worked on airplanes in the Air Force which is why I had an early love for airplanes and a desire to become an aeronautical engineer.
Stage 2- In the early stages of my life/career the only time I went to the airport was because I was going on vacation. Like Pavlov's Dog Study, I associate airports with a positive experience.
So yes, reading this article hit me differently. I didn't know Adrienne Vaughan personally, but I feel for her family and her tribe. I pray they can find peace in the future.
Work hard and enjoy the journey. Don't let trivial things distract you from the important things. Enjoy your family and friends and please be careful.
Have a great Saturday!
Stay safe!
