Consequences…

When I was younger,  I had a quick temper and was even quicker to put up my hands up to fight.  It was nothing for me to get into a fight when somebody looked at me funny, or somebody said something slick or just because.  I'm so glad I've matured from that quick-tempered no concern about future consequences person.

Fast forward to yesterday.  I was leaving the grocery store after work and a car sped past me on the wrong side of the road in front of the store.  I honked my horn at him.  After we turned out of the shopping complex, the driver slowed down and put his hand out the window and put up his middle finger.  At first, I did not realize what he was doing.  Then, as he turned into his subdivision, he slowed down, and did it again.  He threw up his middle finger at me.  I couldn't believe this man was giving me the middle finger.  I chuckled and thought, this man with handicap license plate number - LKM345, I know your plate number and I know the subdivision you live in, we are both lucky I'm not the quick-tempered have no concern about future consequences person I used to be.  Or that I'm not the silly ego-driven enraged person who feels the world has done them wrong and your action is the proverbial spark that sets me off.

I wish people in today’s society would think more about action and consequences.  But even more specifically, think about  “Action and Consequence” before they act as opposed to living with the after-action regret.  Many people are in tough situations or dead because they don’t pause and think about the consequences of their actions.

My prayer is that we pause and think more about the consequences before we act and as a result we all make better decisions in the future.

Have a great Thursday!

Stay safe!
