Vecus

I was born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx, New York, a city of strength, determination, and resilience… a hard, but wonderful place. I attended Brooklyn Technical High School, where I studied Aeronautical Engineering. I was the Track Team Captain and the Student Government Vice-President.

After graduating from Brooklyn Tech, Vecus traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, where he attended Morehouse College. At Morehouse, I studied English and had dreams of becoming a lawyer. I graduated from Morehouse in 1993 with a B.A. To get some experience before applying to law school I worked at the Law Firm, Aikens and Ward and quickly realized that law, though a noble profession, was not for him.

Unsure of my next step, I opened and ran Vecus’ Laundry & Dry Cleaning. To help pay the business expenses, I took a night job at the Atlanta Journal and Constitution distribution center. After two years, I was promoted to Branch Zone Manager in Doraville. During this time, I also opened two other dry cleaning locations and partnered to open a few restaurants around the Atlanta University Center.

I was introduced to Waffle House by chance when my wife, Anissia, jokingly put my resume on a career site in 2002. The initial curiosity about Waffle House has led to a wonderful career. I am currently an Executive Vice President responsible for the Real Estate Department and restaurant operations in the Midwest and Southwest side of the country.

My passion is developing people. I believe that, as leaders, we have a responsibility to serve all people. With that in mind, Along with my wife, I started Vee’s Fitness in 2020 out of the idea of creating a space where a person can become the very best version of themselves. I believe an uplifting, consistent, empowering environment is the key to personal and professional success. Welcome to Vee’s Fitness.
